WELCOME

It’s a pleasure to welcome you to the 12th annual Prestatyn & Clwydian Range Walking Festival, which continues to grow each year with visitors from all over the UK and overseas. A firmly established event providing FREE guided walks for all ages and abilities, ranging from all day treks to easier strolls with some special themes. Fun and adventure for all the family in the great outdoors.

Prestatyn and Meliden are proud of their status as a Walkers Are Welcome community and we were the first in Wales too! These links with other Walkers Are Welcome communities across the UK enables us to spread the word of our great location. The Walkers Are Welcome scheme has encouraged more and more communities in Wales to get involved resulting in more visitors getting to experience the joys of walking the spectacular coast and hills we have around us.

Prestatyn continues to flourish and more retail outlets were opened on Parc Prestatyn in 2015. The Scala Cinema is under new ownership and on the beachfront the Nova Centre has undergone a multi-million-pound re-development and is a great family and children’s entertainment centre. To top all of this off, the most exciting news for us was Prestatyn being voted runner-up in the UK-wide best high street competition – now that is something to make us all very proud indeed.

Conveniently situated at the northern end of the Clwydian Range & Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Prestatyn provides a wonderful base for walking enthusiasts. We offer good access to the 870 mile Wales Coast Path which circumnavigates Wales and we are at the beginning/end of the Offa’s Dyke National Trail and Clwydian Way. All this in addition to many interesting local way marked routes to explore.

Our 2016 walking festival offers you a range of walks for all abilities, with walks starting from various locations around the town and surrounding area including the Parish Church Hall and Old Library in Prestatyn, which are our main bases this year. Many walks are dog friendly (on a short lead) and offer a choice of refreshments to purchase either before or after your walk including the eclectic mix of great quality outlets on Prestatyn high street.

There is a Festival Facebook page where we welcome both photographs and feedback on the Festival walks you have undertaken.

We really look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful part of Wales and do book early for the walk or walks of your choice, as many walks have limited places.
